Agia Anna Amorgos

The beach of beach in Amorgos and the eponymous chapel, is the most famous landmarks and beaches in the island, known as the setting of Luc Besson’s classic film “The Big Blue”, starring Jean Reno.

Beach Agia Anna Amorgos

It is just three kilometers away from the Chora of Amorgos, and just one and a half kilometers away from Monastery of Chozoviotissa.. The beach is known for its crystal-clear turquoise waters, which, combined with the rocky terrain and sharp cliffs, compose a set of unique "wild beauty" of the landscape.

Make sure you bring a camera when you visit and capture these moments that you will keep forever! The tiny chapel of Agia Anna is often used for picturesque wedding and baptism ceremonies, even by non-locals and non-Greeks.

If you swim out far enough, you will be rewarded with the sight of the Monastery clinging to the cliffs high up on the left.

And if you would like some privacy and don’t mind a bit of scrambling, there are secret footpaths among the rocks that lead to peaceful inlets and occasionally a bit of shade.

Since the beach is small and has very little shade, the best times to visit are early in the morning or late in the afternoon as it tends to get crowded in the middle of the day. Don’t forget your sunscreen, in any case!

Syrma beach Amorgos

The Syrma beach is located to the west of Agia Anna, taking the path starting at the canteen. Massive rocks “break” the coastline in two, creating two separate beaches. These two are pebbled rather than sandy. The beach is 3 kilometers away from the Chora.

Kambi beach for nudist Amorgos

If you want some privacy taking the rough path after Syrma beach, you can reach Kambi, a nudist beach that is larger and it is very popular between nudists. A deserted islet is visible to the right (known as “Megalo Viokastro”), and Chozoviotissa Monastery emerges imposingly on the left.

The between the sea and the mountain unfolds in front of you! This beach is also pebbled, and make sure you bring plenty of sunscreens, as there is little shade. The footpath leading to Kambi is very rough, so make sure you bring proper shoes that will protect your feet on the way there and back.

Not recommended for children and novice swimmers!

An alternative and more accessible nudist beach is Plakes at Katapola.
